Faith

I stand alone on this road
Not knowing why I’m here.
I see a man before me
He is starting to come near.

And as he draws close
I am unable to speak.
“Who is this man?” I question
And why does he have this affect on me?

And when he stops he says nothing,
Almost if as he’s waiting for me to go first
I stand there frozen
All emotions feeling like they are going to burst.

And as the moon shines on him,
I see a tear fall from his eyes.
And then I realize something,
It’s me who has made him cry.

I no longer see a stranger,
But someone I know quite well.
A man who has given everything for me.
A man who knows me all to well.

And then he did something,
Something I didn’t expect.
He held out his hand,
And said “welcome back”.

“There is nothing that you can do
That I can’t forgive.
Lay your burdens down,
And with me you can live.

For I love you my child,
And I always will.
Leave your sins behind you,
And I will forget them as well”.

And all the strength that I once had
Seemed to leave me then,
And all that I could do
Is fall to my knees before Him.

And with my face in the dirt
I gave all that I could give,
And at the feet of my Lord
I became nothing once again.

Then he reached down
And grabbed my hand,
And I now walk with Him every day
And I will no longer will I be lost again.
No longer will things stay the same.
