Luke 6:6 describes a man with a shriveled hand, which is a condition that the man has had to endure since his birth, so let us look at this through his prospective. Since he was a little child, he was made fun of. The other children teased him, and as they played he looked on, wishing he could be normal, so he could play with them. As he was getting older, and the other young men had girl friends, but the girls did not look at him. He walked all of his life wondering what others where thinking, and he tried to hide his deformity, ashamed, and self conscientious of it (this is spoken hypothetically).

Any way, one sabbath day he was probably outside minding his own business, and the Pharisees saw him, and looking for a way to accuse Jesus of breaking the Sabbath, they grabbed him and took him to the Synagogue, because they knew Jesus would want to heal him. The man at that point probably figured that he was going to be mocked at, and made fun of, but Jesus saw him there. Seeing the hopeless condition of him, he told him to stand up in front of them all, so what choice did the man have. He probably looked around and slowly got up, and stood in front of them all, his head was down in shame. However, Jesus turned his attention away from the man, and confronted and ridiculed the religious sect by saying, “which is lawful to do on the sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” All of the Jews did not say a thing, they only wallowed in their piousness. He looked at them all, and burning in his spirit at their self centered thick heads said to the man, “stretch out your hand.” Then at that moment, the man with all his might extended his hand to the word of Jesus, and as he did, it was made whole just like his other hand. Then the man who was in bondage from birth, was set free, and he received a new right hand.

It is amazing how God can take a moment of scripture to describe the eternal condition of all mankind, and that condition is from birth unto death. It stains our whole person, and corrupts us, and rules over us. It is a condition that we can not heal, and have no hope in getting rid of it, and that condition is sin.
However, Jesus seeing that condition, took that condition upon himself, and payed the death penalty for us, and just as he healed the condition of the man with the shriveled hand, he also healed us from the terminal condition of sin and it's repercussion of death. Though we still may die. We that believe in him shall live, and he gave a promise that where he has gone, he will prepare a place for us so that we can be with him too, and not only that, but he also promised to raise us from the dead when he returns to the earth to take claim of his kingdom, but for those who are still living at his return, will never see death, but you have to take a leap of faith. Just as the man with the shriveled hand, when he listened to Jesus, and did as he commanded him by stretching out his hand. So believe in him as the Father has also commanded, and by faith we are saved because that is the power of the gospel of salvation.
