"Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me into the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23-24)

The LORD does search our hearts. God knows our every thought and inclination, pure and impure. Every obsession and lustful thought God knows it complete. The LORD knows every thing we covet. We cannot hide our hearts. "All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD" (Pro 16:2)

We have to keep our thinking in line with God's will. Even as we are to be obedient in actions and words, our thoughts are subject to God's rule. It is not always easy to keep a clean heart. We do a lot of sinning in our minds. However the Word of God tells us this should not be so. "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Messiah Jesus" (Phil 2:5)

We have battles within. Temptations arise, but we must not give in, and we must not dwell on these things. Do not allow bitterness, addictions, lusts, greed, anger, etc. to inhabit your psyche. Loving the Lord with all of our heart, soul and mind is not possible if transgression is hiding in our imaginations.

Do not let sin reign in your heart, but allow the Holy King to have complete sovereignty over your life. The LORD is stronger than any carnal enticement and He can liberate us. We have to confess, repent and seek to keep our thoughts in accord with our Redeemer. Instantly extinguish every ungodly thought and desire as it arises and do not let it smolder. "Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Messiah," (2Corinthians 10:5) Pray, as often as necessary, that God will set a guard over your thoughts and keep your heart rightly aligned. "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;" (Eph 4:23)

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things." (Phil 4:8)

If you have an ongoing problem in this area, I suggest you talk to a trusted godly person who will pray with, and for you. Be honest about yourself. God already knows so just admit it and begin healing.
"Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?" (Pro 6:27)
