Lazy hands, said King Solomon,
Make a poor man,
But diligent hands,
Bring wealth, he said.
How true, these words uttered long ago,
By a man blessed,
And just for our own benefit,
Now I have it stressed.
For hard work has no substitute,
Though some may claim otherwise,
But mere sluggards are these,
Men loathsome, unfit and unwise.
Still, if unconvinced,
Read what a wise man once wrote,
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard,
Consider it’s ways and be wise."
