The Greatest Thing Since Catnip

Ah, catnip! I love to eat it and roll in it. I love to smell it and get it on my fur.

My human is fairly well-trained. She gives me catnip often, but it is never enough. I have to paw at the cabinet door until I get her attention. Sometimes she still ignores me or tells me I do not need any more catnip. As if she knows! If I could figure out to remove the lid, I would just help myself to this special treat.

Recently, there has been another human in the house. She calls him her fiancée (whatever that means), and soon he will be her husband. She tells me that he will be here all the time then. Now, this human is really nice. I make him lie down and take a nap while I get comfortable on his chest. I like him because he pets me and gives me catnip. I follow him around and sit next to him whenever I can. There is something about him that I really like, but I cannot figure out just what it is. I thought I liked him only because he gives me a lot of catnip, but there is something more than that.

He has a gentle nature about him, and always talks about God and getting to know Him better. That is something I do not understand – why these humans have such trouble worshipping God. I praise God just like it says in Psalms 148:7, 10, and 13: “Praise the Lord from the earth … small creatures ... let them praise the name of the Lord.” Humans seem to forget that we small creatures always praise God. It is what we were born to do. Perhaps humans do not consider themselves small enough.

Nevertheless, I digress, so I will return to the subject at paw. This man human is a gentle person with a “quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight” (1 Peter 3:4). His gentleness is evident in the way he speaks and the way he pets my fur. He is very patient with me when I demand more catnip. Usually all I have to do is purr for him and rub against him and I get what I want. More catnip!

For days now I have been trying to get my fix of catnip, but that female has been ignoring me. So, I approach the man and I am successful! Yeah! Catnip leaves! Catnip smells! Catnip all over the floor!

The way I figure it, this man is the greatest thing since catnip, so I guess I will let my female keep him around! Praise God!
