THE LOVER’S RAIN

Heaven’s waters
essence of my Beloved
moist tender gifts
from the throne

His love is better,
better than wine
bittersweet
fruit of the vine
growing in the garden
the garden set apart
my body, my soul
my spirit, my heart

Look up and behold
droplets
descending from infinity.
Gentle rainfall
sweet wet kisses
from my Beloved.

Steady rhythm
precipitation of love’s fire
drips down upon me
from my Beloved’s brow.
He bathes me in His love,
His mercy, His grace

His love is better,
better than wine
bittersweet
fruit of the vine
growing in the garden

my body, my soul
my spirit, my heart

Torrential
awesome
driving force
culmination
constant warmth
Holy alluvium
lustrate and expecting

Quieting
faithful caresses of my Beloved,
My Brother, my Husband
sweet lover of my soul
His essence
a banner of love over me

His love is better,
better than wine
