As a disclaimer, I never professed to be a poet, but here goes a lame attempt. (I am getting married on January 6 next year, so this is directed toward my future as a wife.) I'm not sure if this is 'inspirational,' but I couldn't figure out another category for it.






The Mirror

What do I see when I look into a mirror?
I see a person weathered from life
What if I look more intently and much clearer?
Do I see what my husband wants in a wife?

I peer into the mirror and look at myself but
I cannot see what is the appeal
Is it the way that my hair is styled and cut?
He tells me no, it’s the way I make him feel

God tells us not to forget what we look like
We should stare into that mirror and study our heart
Each one is unique, not one of us is alike
Focus on Him always and never will we part

So I let my husband speak his words of kindness
And I counter with words of my love so deep
It matters not that I think he has blindness
For in Jesus, we have a love that forever will keep
