I was thinking of the baby afghan I’m making for a friend to give to her grandniece; the pattern was simple and in between each pattern row, there is a row of holes, dividing up the piece.

The pattern is pretty, but when it's all done, there will still be that one missing thing, the last little touch that will bring it alive, the one detail that makes the whole pattern sing.

For through each of those rows of holes that were made, a silk ribbon is to be woven in and out, and tied at the ends in the tiniest of bows, making its beauty complete, without a doubt.

And it reminded me of my life, in the lonely time before I met you - I was like that little afghan that I had worked so hard to make, but it was missing that one last touch I knew.

I searched and I looked and I tried so many things, thinking each one would make me complete, but nothing at all would fit exactly right, until I reached
the place where I wouldn't even seek.

And that was the point that I thought to look up, and there my answer was, right in front of me - for there stood Jesus, just waiting for my cry, so He could transform my heart into everything He meant it to be.

What a joyful day of discovery that was, to have my sins swept away, and my life made over into something brand new, and I knew in my heart that if God could do this, He could make any of my dreams come true.

And so He did, though it was in His timing - while I learned more of Him through His word, and when the time was right, in His exactly perfect moment, He brought me to you, and my future was assured.

The joy of that meeting, the falling in love, were gifts of such value given to me, and to double that joy, to fulfill the love in my heart, giving it all to you, made me complete in happiness that I could ever be.

Each day I thank God for being the ribbon that filled in the holes in my heart,
and became the ribbons of love that tie my heart forever to yours, so we will
never be apart.

The pattern is filled in, but we add to it every day, by attaching little gestures and words of love, an edging of joy we fashion with all we do and everything we say.

There is such delight in the making, this edging of love I see, for every day God pours out more blessings on the love shared between you and me.
