We used to say, "He spends money like a drunken sailor." Today
we say, "He spends money like a sober congressman."

April 15 -- a dreadful day for many. In spite of all the pork
barrell projects our congressmen pass, aren't you glad that you are
able to help support this wonderful country. I know you think
you are required to pay too much in taxes, but in reality aren't you
glad you have a job so that you can pay them.

Some of you have the misfortune to be temporarily out of a job,
and you are wondering where the source will be for not only taxes
but for your rent, car payment and even food. I have never had
the situation of not having a job, so I can't share in your feeling of
hurt and frustration, but it must be an ulcer producer. This is a
time when you have to draw heavily on your faith in the Lord.

Right now if I were to quote, "Render unto Caesar that which is
Caesar's," you'd say I was rubbing it in, so I won't. Instead, let me
encourage you to be grateful even as you sign your name to your
Internal Revenue check. Think of Psalm 119:108. "Lord, accept
my grateful thanks and teach me your laws." Will you repeat that
and smile?
