When you were a kid do you remember what you thought God may of sounded like? If you were like me, you thought God had this big booming voice and it was very deep and echoed throughout the world. And when God spoke, I always thought, thunder would roar and lighting would strike... but that just what I thought when I was little. But you know God speeks in so many different ways: Through his word, through people, church, someone speaking Gods words... just so many different ways he speaks to us, we just have to realize it. He doesn't only speak to us in a big booming voice... I don't know about you but if God just out of no where spoke to me a huge voice, yeah I would probably pee my pants... wow thats warm....

"When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" -Exodus 3:4

Wow! That really did blow my mind when I first read that. God spoke through a burning bush to tell Moses to free his people. (If you haven't ever read the story of Moses I challenge you to read it!) Sometimes we sit through life waiting for his big voice or for this insane sign to tell us what to do but God really doesn't speak like that all the time. With Moses God spoke through a bush.... This friend of mine said they knew that they should get saved but they wanted to wait for Gods booming voice or this huge sign. Well, the sign to get saved has already came! Jesus came to cross and died for our sins! But sometimes God uses the gentle touch or whisper to talk to us.

"...Then a great and powerful wind tore the moutains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was NOT in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was NOT in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was NOT in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." -1 Kings 19:11-12

Now let me back track for just a second, God had just told his servent to go out and listen for him. He wasn't in all the loud, in your face things like the wind, fire, and earthquake.... he was the gentle whisper.... the gentle touch. He works in the big stuff no doubt! But I think alot we ignore the gentle whisper and if you would only take the time to listen it will rock your rocks!
