“Abba!”

“Don't you be afraid, for I am with you; don't be dismayed,for I am your God; I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness,” (Isaiah 41:10).



Do you remember how life was a when you were a young child? Everything was an intrigue. Everything was looked at through a child’s eyes of innocence, wonder, enthusiasm and trust. To be a child, life was indeed innocent. We did not care about each other’s skin color, hair color, heritage, or what family we belonged to. All we really wanted was each other’s friendship. But as a child, we were also vulnerable, unable to take care and protect ourselves. Hence, the people who were the most important to us at that time were our parents and we trusted them with all our hearts. They were our protector, our provider, our parents and our friends, just to name a few roles they played. Without them we always seemed to be scared and lost. We could not think of anyone else on earth that we loved and needed more than our parents.

Well guess what, this is how God wants our relationship with Him to be. For in this relationship everything is innocent. There is no forethought of how to elude the other, there is no secretes, lies, hesitations, or manipulation. The heart of a child is always pure. And because of this, God desires for us to see Him as our heavenly Father through the innocent eyes of a child so that our relationship with Him can exist at its fullest potential. The Lord wants us to love Him, trust Him, and depend on Him as if He were our earthly father. When we are afraid, He wants us to run into His opened arms. When we are confused, He wants to clarify things for us. When we do something wrong, He wants us to tell Him the truth; for like any good parent, it is not because He wishes to punish us for our wrong deed, but rather He only wants to show us the right way to follow so that we will not do wrong again. And like any parent, God wants and waits earnestly each day for the minutes or the hour in which we will come and be with Him. He longs to have that alone time with us each day so He can listen to our concerns and our joys, and share them with us. He wants us to feel free to talk to Him as a trusting friend, and ask Him for whatever our hearts desires like a needing child.

God longs for the day that we will think of Him and treat Him as Father, Abba, just as He has long ago treated us as His very own beloved children. Waste no more time, come to your Father.
