"He Can Do Magic in Your Life Too"
He is in your life everyday - 24/7- have you seen Him? Maybe you saw His handprint in something small like on your way to work this morning, while being late for a meeting, you hit all the green lights which got you to that meeting 5 minutes before it began. Or maybe it was something less obvious, like having someone see how full your hands were, they decided to wait and hold the door open for you although you were no where near it just so things would be a little easier for you. Sure these things don’t sound like very much, such as the winnings of a large lottery, but we must realize that they are the handy works of God, and at the end of the day give Him glory for it.
For me, I have a personal story I’d like to share with you because, God’s blessings have been tremendous in my life. Through out my thirty years of living I, like you, have had my roller-coaster rides through life but I could always feel the strong presence of God being right there by my side. For no matter how difficult or long the situation was that I was in, God always gave me the necessary tools I needed so that I could build myself back up and dig myself out of the devil’s hold of self-pity and self-destruction. My duties were first to have faith in God, and second to pray that He would guide me to those tools. Once the tools were in my hands, everything seemed to come naturally. This is how I knew I had found what God had left for me. Let me explain.
As a young child having escaped a war torn country, I was forced into a life of refugee on a foreign land where life was limited and it’s daily priorities was to simply survive from day to day, hour to hour. The fear and loneliness of being apart from my family had to be tucked away for the time being. Thus, God armed me with a keen, quick, and smart mind, un-natural for a child of the tender age of four, to either elude, escape, or in a child like manner with her wide eyes, sad pout, and bright smile seduce her way out of danger. My footsteps were always quiet and fast; my breathing silent and barely present. I had no fear it seemed, only foresight. As I endured my adolescent years of growing pains and confusion, God gave me the ability of art, poetry, and music to fill my idle times and lonely hours when I most needed a reassuring talk of an older sibling or a loving touch of a parent. During those years every emotion I had was poured into a classical piece on the keys of the black and white, or scribbled into verses on floating lines of poetry; on occasions I would belt it all out in choir and solo competitions, or I’d sketch it softly into a black and white image on paper. In stead of feeling sorry for myself and forming bad habits because of the anger or the hurt I was enduring through those years, God told me there were better ways to nurse myself and He gave me the tools to do so. And so this continued, one big mishap after the other – God gave me abilities to do many things, anything … and even now, when my illness has left me physically unable to do many things for myself on some days, or with the ability to think with a clear and educated mind, God said to me: you’re not done yet my daughter – be my voice, write for me. And as I opened myself up to God allowing Him to use me as His vessel, I am able to send you these daily messages when before I was limited by my illness with the cognitive abilities. Finally, what is even more amazing is, once I began to do my work for the Lord, He did my work for me, and gave me the opportunity to occasionally do some freelance writing.
Therefore, do not give up on God, just as you should not give up on life. God always has a way out for all of us when we are caught up in our troubles. We just need to have faith in Him and then seek out the opportunity He creates for us. Please don’t miss understand, I tell you this not to brag about myself, but to give glory to God and all His wonders so you too may come to believe and look for them in your lives. They are there. Some of my friends say that I’m lucky because I have many talents to fall back on, I don’t see it that way at all. I say I’ve had a challenging life and God gave me what I needed to carry through it so that I may live as a testimony to His great love and suffering for us, and His many graces He has for giving. Sing praise to His glory!
