“Man of God”

“Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross,” (Philippians 2:8).


We call Him Almighty God and Lord of all creations yet He chooses to reveal Himself through the brokenness and frailty of a human body.

His Kingdom is of a place where milk and honey never runs dry and beauty graces the air, yet He chooses the humble means of a barn stable, surrounded by the earth, sky and creatures which He created to be born into.

Amidst the time and space continuum, amongst the majestic clouds in the sky, bright colorful gasses of the universe, and blankets upon blankets of stars His mighty thrown sits and angels harp His Kingship’s glory yet He chooses for Himself a crown of thorns and a cross to be nailed to unfitting for any king.

The tongue that called for the dead and forgave the wicked was a human one. The hand that wiped away a mother’s tears and touched the diseased body of a leper was as rough and broken as any carpenters hands would be. The feet upon which the woman wept were callused and dusty from the many miles He walked. His body, made of flesh and blood, bones and nerves spilt every ounce of blood and felt every bit of pain from the spikes which were hammered into limbs. And His tears – oh let’s not forget His tears – they poured heavily from a heart as broken as yours or mine has ever been.

Though people came to Him, criminals and prostitutes, kings and children, the well and the unwell, they came in the numbers of thousands at one time. They traveled the miles He walked just so they could touch Him. They followed Him around the seas just so they could hear Him teach. They welcomed Him into their homes, broke bread by His side, and placed their children at His feet. Why?

All this happened because He refused to be a hard cold statue in a cathedral or a self righteous priest elevated on a pulpit. He chose instead to be a man of the people, a friend, a brother, a son, a teacher … He chose instead to be a touchable, approachable, reachable Jesus.
