Lord do help me to keep my head straight
and also my little heart right
It's possible I'll make a few more mistakes
but keep on shining your light

Upon this soul of mine that's all the time
help me correct it when it goes wrong
For it's no good thing that lies in this flesh
and soon, that evil does come along

Now when it does sprinkle down some mercy
do keep filling me with your love
Help me to abide under your wings of grace
that does come from up above

I've not dotted every-I nor crossed every-T
that's why I have to keep coming back
For the flesh can be a mess every now and then
so it needs help to get back on track

Do cry O' soul of mine with a cheerful heart
and be thankful that he understands
And for giving you a chance to do it over again
by on, the laying of his hands
