Is your church Going, Growing and Glowing? Are you helping it
to happen?

There is an interesting parallel between electronic resistance and
churches. If you parallel a group of resistors that are all of
different values, the total resistance will always be lower than the
lowest value resistor. Likewise, every church seems to have at
least one cantankerous individual, and it seems they are holding
back the power of God flowing through that church. We'll call him
Jonathan Grumpy Jowls. He's always bucking progress in the
church. "We never did it that way, and we ain't gonna start it
now!" We'll call him a high resistance member -- high resistance
to the flow of God's power.

Then there's Clara Sparkle Eyes. She radiates the love of Christ
through her face. She never criticizes anyone, and she probably
has callouses on her knees from praying for you and her pastor.
We'll call her a low resistance member -- low resistance to the flow
of God's power in the church.

In between those two extremes, your church will have folks with
varying degrees of resistance -- some high, some low. If we apply
the resistor principle to the church, keep in mind that one obstrep-
erous individual will not totally stop the flow of God's power -- he
may impede it, but the total resistance to stopping God's power is
always lower than the saint with the least resistance. Working in
parallel we all lower the resistance so that God's power flows
freely. That's one good reason for having the church. Together we
can do far more than we could individually.

Now it's time for the exam. Where are we on the resistance scale
in our church? Are we holding back the flow of power or are we
helping it to flow more smoothly? Let's all be a Clara.
