“The Lone Fisherman”

Once upon a time or so the story goes, a man stood by the ocean fishing in the early morning light. Suddenly, there came screams for help in the far distance. Looking at the horizon, the man could see a sightseeing boat capsizing. Unable to call for help and fearing for the lives of the passengers, he did what he could; jumped into his boat and began to row toward the shouts and cries for help.

Coming upon a healthy looking young man, he decided to pick him up so that together they could help others. “Thank you,“ said the young man upon being saved from the sea. “Come, let us go and help others,” quickened the man as he began to row towards another. Spying a woman gasping for air, the young man stood up pointing and shouting and immediately fell out of the boat. The man returned to collect him once more. “Watch yourself. I need you to help me save others” the man comforted the passenger.
Again, the fisherman began to row towards another passenger. This time, the young man seeing his luggage float by reached out and again fell back into the water. Again, the man returned to rescue him.

"Sorry,” was the response from the young man. “It seems that I can’t keep my footing.” The man said nothing, but rowed once again to another victim. Unexpectedly, the young man pulled at the oars catching the fisherman off guard and again, the young man found himself in the sea. This time, the fisherman simply rowed away. “You stay here while I go and help the others. I will be back for you when I can,” he shouted rowing out of sight.


COMMON SENSE SAYS: If God is spending all His time just saving us from our sin sick life, then we have no time to help Him save others.
