Are You Using Your God Given Gifts?

Often when we look at people of fame we tend to believe they were born with special talents, extraordinary intellect and unique skills. In reality and in truth, when one considers and studies their biographies, we find most were not endowed with extraordinary gifts not were they particularly outstanding among their family or friends until they discovered their calling, their niche in life—if you will.

It is good to remember that Abraham Lincoln—despite special tutoring—was unable to pass his English examination and was retained in his educational process twice. He was especially unable to grasp an understanding of the relationship between nouns and verbs!! The investor, Thomas Edison, was once at the bottom of his high school class and thought to be a hopeless case. In spite of his contributions to modern mathematics and physics during the 20th century, Albert Einstein failed mathematics and was, in fact, classified as mentally retarded. The automobile magnate, Henry Ford, was reported by one of his teachers to be a hopeless case and a student who showed no promise or future.

Every person has special God—given gifts. However, not all are equally successful at discovering them or using them. In many instances, we reject our gift desiring the gift or gifts of others because we believe our gift does not generate the desired financial outcome, power or personal recognition we desire. They view their gift as inferior as they pursue activities and tasks outside of their God—given gift.

How faithful are you in performing the gifts God has given you to do? If you are frustrated, feel depressed or not appreciated, maybe it is because you are rejecting God’s calling. How can you change this? Prayerfully go before God this day to ask for forgiveness for rejecting His gift to you and ask God what He would have you to do. No matter how humble or unimportant your assignment appears, do it with your whole mind, heart and spirit! If it is visiting the sick in hospitals or working in an office with persons opposed to Christianity or working with troubled teens, do it willingly! Using the gift God has given you may be the portal through which you must pass before new opportunities are revealed to you. Performing your God given gift could well be the key to discovering an exciting new spiritual and personal dimension in your life! And…may God bless you and your work and hold you in the palm of His Sacred Hands!
