What is your ideal in having a good life
will it always be dull and gray
Is the thorn of rose's picking at you
then start clipping them away

Now reach up to heaven and ask God,
to send petals and not a few
Gather each one up, in your hands
and flowers will bloom for you

Plant your garden with love and joy
let heaven rain, on each row
Ask him sprinkle down, more of his peace
so that your life can glow

If the weeds of sorrow try to cover you
pull them up and rid of them
Don't let anything take your joy for life
don't let it plant seeds of dim

Let God put more flowers in your path
And don't accept, the crab grass
pick a few lilies bright and yellow
and then put some in a glass

Then the sun will beckon at your call
and most surly it will come through
You can welcome your days, rain or shine
and each one can belong to you

Life can be like an open field
that you can fill each day
It can be dark as night, but make it bright
just plant it in your own way

Don't even have to worry how it will grow
God will water it each hour
your heavenly garden will get, the best of care
for everything, moves by his power
