As I get ready to send this, Dan Rather is reporting sirens going
off in Baghdad. This is no time for the usual attempt at humor.
Instead, take time for prayer.

Are we sensitive enough to God that we feel His Spirit tugging at us about certain issues?

The prophet Zechariah in 7:12 said this about another people at another time, but maybe it strikes a sensitive note within us. Listen -- "They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets." For us, the "earlier prophets" are all the pastor's sermons that we allowed to pass over our heads or shed like water off a duck's back. God has given us untold opportunities to "listen to the law or the words that the Lord Almighty has sent..."

It is quite risky to put God off to another time because our hearts may harden toward the issue about which He is trying to get our attention. As Felix said to Paul in Acts, “I'll wait for a more convenient time.” A more convenient time may never come. That's the danger of waiting to deal with a problem that needs our attention right now. A better time may never come. “Do It Now!”
