I pick up the phone
I hear a bad foreign accent
and ask
"Is this Destiny?"
Click
Destiny is calling again
reminding me
their are weird people
out there
in kid-smart ways.
It's good to be
playful and laugh
every other hour
if possible;
if I get a chance;
if I have time
to pick up the call.
Just thinking
of her
eternal child-likeness,
my soul joins me
in a belly laugh.
She never stops
messing with people
pretending to be Cher;
whipping her hair extensions
behind her shoulders
with confidence;
clipping people magazine;
pasting a co-workers face
on Ben Affleck's baby;
looking behind the book shelf
with a flash light.
There is no mystery
she isn't searching out
or creating;
xeroxing objects and
asking others to guess.
The world needs
more people
to join the circus
because it may be
on it's last run
and Destiny
just may call you
asking for a donation -
reminding you
to think of the little people
and their need for
squirt guns.
