The Author



Our lives are as a novel
Written by a Hand
That no one sees; imagines.
Nor even understands.

Chapters carefully written.
Tears of joy or woes.
Punctuate each chapter,
That’s just how it goes.

The Author writes each character,
Each personality;
Choosing each as He sees fit,
As they are meant to be.

His stories all are written
With purpose and with plan;
Divinely ordered circumstance
Before the book began.

So He has adventures
For each of us in mind
So we will have a future
In each and every line.

Oftentimes a chapter
Will take a strange new twist.
It seems the characters will have
To take an unseen risk.

We dare not take the pen from Him
Lest we change the script
He knows what the end will be
We must not change a bit.

Things don’t always work out well
In storybooks you read,
But when the Author’s God himself,
The outcome’s good indeed.

He’s the Author and the Finisher
Our faith is His to test
He always writes our books of life
To work out what is best.
