Lord, why don’t you just let me be?
Are you trying to show me something I just refuse to see?
I know I have turned numerous times away from you….
Is this why you’re allowing me to go what I am going through?
You are trying to reveal yourself in the depths of my despair….
But as usual, I have been ignoring that you were always there….

My stubborn ways and refusal to see
have tried to tell you
Lord, why don’t you just let me be?
Still Lord, you continue to be there when I walk away
You are there even when I don’t want to talk today.

You have opened your loving arms for me to come on in…
Even though I have lived this awful life of sin…
I have now asked you to come into my life…
To end the pain in my heart and my strife…

But you have said to me through the burdens I still continue to bear..
“My child, my child, it doesn’t stop there….
Because you have asked me into your heart
Doesn’t mean your sins will part….
Now the countless temptations will be even more
That you will need my guidance and love to completely ignore…
I will always love and watch you…the Lord continued to say,
as long as you heed my word and continue to pray...

With tears in my eyes and my heart finally at ease,
I dropped to my knees and cried,
“Thank you, Oh Thank you my Lord for giving me peace!!!!”
Then it hit me as I got up to stand…
That it was the Lord that has always held my hand….

I stood up with a strength I have never knew before because now I see...
Why the Lord my God just never would let me be….
