...but he who denies Me before men...

Luke 12:9

It’s not a comfortable thought, the idea of denying God, and most of us would never dream of doing so. But I keep being taken back to Jesus’ words just moments before, words of warning about the Pharisees, and the leaven of their hypocrisy. And suddenly before men takes on a heartbeat I don’t want to hear.

I don’t want to think of the countless ways in which seeds of hypocrisy bore denial’s ‘hidden’ fruit in my life. Not hidden from God. Not hidden from men. Not hidden from satan’s minions. Hidden, only from my heart!

Suddenly, before me stretches the vast field of my life. A field richly seeded with the faithfulness of God, with abundant seed of His goodness. Yet in the unguarded night, through footholds to which I was party or blinded, other seeds fell within the boundaries of my field. Sight-walking watered the alien seed, and I failed to cast denial’s seedlings out when first they sprouted.

Never, never would I deny my Lord. But before I understood, denial’s fruit knew an abundance I never dreamed. Anxiety born by worldly cares found oh, so many, many voices. Worries dug roots deep. Fears sprouted in countless varieties. Doubts - about my worthiness, God’s love for me, my usability, God’s forgiveness – blanketed the soil that would know Heaven’s crop. Worldly values and ungodly choices littered the field with stones of stumbling....

With denial’s scales now fallen from my eyes, I ‘see’ the countless ways I’ve denied my Lord, before the world of men.

Ah, Father, why should a watching world believe I trust in You? Believe the truth of Your love and power and provision that is the sustenance of my life? I can hardly bear to think upon the life of ‘denying You’ I’ve clearly walked so many days. Thank You, Lord, for Grace that sees beyond my ways...to my very heart. I long so much to be a woman after Your own heart. Help me not deny you any more through doubt, or fear, or anxiety. Let me place the defeatist attitudes, the fruits of that denial of You, into Your hands, to cast as far as the east is from the west. Thank You for Redemption Wine, the mercy it imparts, and for the new heart Your love creates in me.

Your wise message that appears to have traced my wayward thoughts. It is amazing how God, working in you, touches the seed of need within the spirit of another. What overwhelming love our Father has for us. This study is affirmation of that love. PTL! Thank you, DeAnna, for allowing God to use you to bless and encourage me. - Nancy

Over and over lately, the Lord takes me back to the same theme, or "scheme of things." The denial of self to take on the will of God. Even doubt, anxiety, and fear are all a part of our human conditions that we must choose the Truth of His Word over. They are all based on our own vain understanding and not the will nor the Word of God. We must believe that His Word is 100% true, despite everything that flashes its ugly teeth in our direction... even when they come from our"selves". Once more, the Lord has taught and blessed many via your pen. May you be awesomely blessed for your obedience and the humility you must surely walk in to write such truths.

Let us walk in a manner worthy to be called sons and daughters of God. I am thankful that He sees past my failures to my heart.
