Not a path I would have chosen,
It’s the one He chose for me.
It’s an unlikely path to wander,
It’s the path of victory.

He never promised easy traveling.
Many times He carried me.
Jesus is my true companion,
Never did abandon me.

If the hardships I am facing
Bring me closer to my Lord,
I’ll have gained a priceless treasure,
I’ll have gained a true reward.

Sometimes ‘why’ questions haunt me,
At times too, He wondered why.
Glad I am despite His questions,
That He freely chose to die.

One day soon there will be answers.
Safely in His arms I’ll rest.
I will know why my dreams shattered.
I will know how much He blest.

When at last my journey’s over,
I’ll be singin’ round His throne
Of my precious Savior’s mercies,
Of the joy to be home.
