My boss used to say that I was a very responsible person --
everytime something went wrong, I was responsible.

In Joshua 24 we find Joshua's final words to the people. He pleads
with them to follow the Lord faithfully. In verse 21 they say, "We
are determined to serve the Lord." Joshua replies, "You are
accountable for this decision."

As people are introduced to Jesus Christ and then make their
decision to follow Him, we need to be bold enough to say, "You
are held accountable for this decision." If you made a decision to
follow our Lord, you are expected to follow through and be
responsible enough to fulfill your commitment. You need to give
evidence that you are indeed a "new person in Christ Jesus."
It isn't like getting a new Internet Service Provider everytime you
encounter a problem. In this case you need to stick with your
decision and prove to God and man that you meant it.

We live in an age where no one wants to accept responsibility. If
you watch Judge Judy, you will get evidence of this over and over
again -- no one ever accepts any responsibility for their actions. It
has become such a part of everyday life that this attitude even spills
over into the life of the church. We each need a sign on our
bathroom mirror that says -- "I am accountable"
