“…Winter closes in hard as the dreaded “Holiday Cheer” tightens its grip on my billfold. I fly to and fro, like Rudolph, to stay one step ahead, but never manage to escape. I watch in horror as frustration as my modest paycheck is pulled violently from my hand and into the turbulent red void that hungrily awaits…”
How tired I have grown of peeking timidly at Christmas through stiff, frightened fingers as if viewing a suspense film at the local theater. I want to experience the celebration of my Savior’s birth with eyes wide open, and wonderment in my heart.
The true meaning of Christmas is covered with the gift-wrap of humility. Our
God humbly lowered himself to our level in order to accomplish the work of our salvation. Such stark contrast to the inflated importance we assign to inflated price tags today.
I have decided to claim a front row seat to the “feel good film of the year” this Christmas. I have season tickets, so pass the popcorn (and cranberries) and join me in experiencing the greatest story ever told. Please check your wallet in at the door, and feel free to tell everyone the ending. I’m sure you’ll give it two thumbs up.
