Poppa G do you see?
Poppa G do you see the hurt inside of me?
Poppa G do you know that I wonder were did goodness go?
Hamlet said it best, should I stay or should I go.
That is the question though;
It needs an answer.

Poppa G do you hear?
Poppa G do you hear the sounds that whisper in the night?
Poppa G do you hear the lies that I’ve been told, the ones that I’ve believed?
Poppa G do you know I was deceived?
How do I get rid of all the lies?
How do I find the strength to survive?
Do you have the answer?

Poppa G do you smell?
Poppa G do you smell my fear?
Poppa G do you know I’m always on alert?
I’m afraid: I am waiting for the hurt;
I am waiting for another hurt to happen.
Is it life that I fear ?
Or is it that I fear that those who get close will hurt me?
Do you have the answer?

Poppa G do you taste?
Poppa G do you taste my shame?
Poppa G do you know I feel I am to blame?
Can you replace the hope I’ve lost?
Considering the cost,
Will you do it for me?

Poppa G do you feel?
Poppa G do you feel my pain?
I am hurting once again;
I am waiting for it to end.
Will it ever stop?

Poppa G do you see the pain?
Poppa G do you hear the silent screams?
Poppa G do you smell the fear?
Poppa G do you taste the shame?
Poppa G do you feel my tears echoing across the years?

Poppa G do you know I’m lost again?
Poppa G do you know the way?
The questions echo in the night.
They echo in my mind.
What are the answers?
I’ve lost sight of the light.
Perhaps I should take flight
And cease to be.
Would it bring the freedom that I seek?
I don't think I have any words left to speak.
Poppa G please hear what is unspoken.
Poppa G please speak into the darkness of my mind.
