Faith

Without it my life was in total serenity; I found God when
I needed Him.
I never knew I was becoming so vulnerable.
Then suddenly, unwelcome, a treasure came into my life.
It intruded the most vital areas of my life:
my family, career, even into my relationship it arrived,
unwelcome.
Then came a turning point.
The serenity I had been enjoying was all gone;
melancholy and maudlin both filled it’s place in my live.
All because of an ‘unwelcome treasure’.

I called on the God whose fellowship I’d enjoyed,
only for me to find Him no more.
A God who promised me His care and faithful love
slammed the door against me- when I needed Him most.
Just like He did to my Brother Jesus, on the cross,
He forsook me.
When He eventually answered, all He had to say was:
“My grace is sufficient for you”.
Yet what I needed most, presently, was nothing but
a substitute for my poignancy.
What I never knew was that a good God could only
transform trials in order to make it work for His son’s good.

Day after day, I searched for the Why of my ‘unwelcome
treasure’.
Until, through grace promised by God, there came an awful
wisdom.
And I found the Who of my life, in whom my sustenance was.
The Word revealed Himself in my confused world.
That Word changed my attitude.
This ‘unwelcome treasure’ wasn’t meaningless anyway;
it has some value, which can only be found in what can be
made of it and not in itself.

This treasure called PAIN is not truly the reason for
unhappiness but a prelude to true and fulfilling joy.
It is not an intruder as I was made to believe, by the world.
So was I compelled to befriend an enemy that I may lead
a free live.
For true happiness and fulfillment can only be found in
understanding and harnessing pain to work for and not
against us.
And a good God can only bring good out of evil and not evil
in hopes of producing good.

This wisdom brought me hope.
I saw opportunity for growth in my pain.
My character was successfully developed by it.
And God and I know that character is what I truly am,
not reputation.
I now love and depend- more- on my good God and Father
for what His grace transformed my pain into.
For how complacent I would have been had pain not found
its way into my live.
Without it, in continuous peril my whole life would be.

How I could have searched forever and never realized the
greatest power for living is found in pain.
As for me, I found gain in my pain, and a message of hope
in my mess.
I have learnt humility, and trust, and gratitude, and faith
through my suffering.
And, most importantly, I found my assignment on earth,
through the treasure I once never welcome.
Pain and pleasure, truly, are two bodies joined by same head.
