Stay my tongue, Lord I ask
Alone I cannot handle the task
My words have been a stumbling block
Vile speaking from my mouth flock

Reserve my mouth for only edification
let what I now say be a dedication
to You, Oh Lord, and not my pride
on my words allow no evil to ride

Give me wisdom in my word
So only Your glory may be heard
vanquish this foul, writhing beast
Let me remain silent, at the least

Save me, Lord, from myself
let my words be full of Your wealth
Bad speaking is nothing short of sinning
Forgive me, Lord. Let me have a new beginning
