I GOT THE MESSAGE

“Lord, give me Your insight that I can share today.”

My glassy eyes stared at the blank paper as I tightened the grip of my pen like aiming an arrow to hit Goliath’s piercing eyes.

God was silent. No nudge, no gentle whisper.

No inspiration.

My mind went blank. My heart felt numbed. My pre-arthritic fingers typed words of frustrations and lamentations as if in scribbling nonsense I can get God’s attention.

“Where are you when I need You?”

I stood up and stretched, did my five minute exercises that included opening the door of my refrigerator to see what can satisfy my taste buds. Perhaps another piece of donut will do. Maybe another cup of coffee drown with 4 packets of sugar and strong cream will stimulate my brain to think of what to write.

I need to write about love. God’s love. Everyone needs to hear about it. But still, God remained silent. No heavenly insights.

Instead, I devoured the last bite of donut – Gluttony.
I’ve been thinking a lot about “me” lately – Selfishness.
I’ve been spending more time surfing the net instead of reading my Bible- Idolatry.

Lord, You maybe silent, BUT I got the message. Thank You.
