If you are going on a trip to Israel, I wouldn't recommend using the
maps in the back of your Bible -- they may be a bit out of date.

In our Sunday School, we are going through Matthew. This week
we started on what we call the beatitudes in Matt. 5. Verse 4 says,
(nlt) "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
My "take" on this verse comes from my stroke experience. My
mourning for lost functions was short-lived because God comfor-
ted me by giving me the grace and courage to "deal with it."

Mourning comes in many forms. It can be grieving over the loss of
a loved one, but it can also be sadness over loss of a job, wayward
children, financial disaster, and on and on. Being comforted is
discovering that God has given you the spiritual fortitude to deal
with your disappointment in a positive way. These words that
Christ spoke many centuries ago are as comforting today as they
were when He spoke them.

In your time of mourning, make sure that your fellowship with God
is close enough that you will be in a position to be comforted and
be able to recognize it.
