Marriage
I was reading recently about a new craft that sounded so intriguing, and I was so struck as I read that this was such a wonderful illustration of our love.
You started with clay, but not just ordinary clay.... this clay is mixed with silver; and one way to use it was to thin it down and use it like paint...dip the brush into the liquid and paint it on tiny green leaves, then let it dry and it picks up every detail of the leaf, and becomes a replica done in clay.
The beauty of it truly comes out when you take that clay and fire it...and in just a little time, that clay is fired away, along with the original leaf...and what is left is that tiny replica, only now it is purest silver, the same leaf but completely transformed.
I feel like God has done exactly that when He brought you and I together.... and as we fell in love and married, He took our two separate lives, and joined them together into a brand new 'one'.
Our lives He painted over with the silver clay of His grace, every part that was the real you and me, and preserved it all in this new form He had in mind, to hold all that we could together come to be.
Over our relationship He poured out all the love that we could hold, and the heat of that love became like the fire in a kiln, and all of the dust from the past, all the things that might hold us back were fired away and gone, leaving only the pure, precious silver in its place.
I thank God each morning when I wake for the wonder that He has done, for the beauty of the love that we share together, for the precious silver that our lives have become.
The lesson is there in His transforming of our lives, and we take the lesson and use it every day...for all the imperfections and obstacles that we meet, there's nothing that our love can't burn away.
So each day we make a new silvery jewel, our hearts transformed with love so fresh and new...and we bring them together, and you give your heart to me, and I, in return, I give mine again to you.
