Written 3-3-05

The view up here,
Awful and inspiring;
In my sight,
The Spirit is firing
Me up to proclaim
A heartbreaking love;
This I’ve seen
From my Father above.

I see the faith
He values as gold;
Wanting His own
To be so bold,
As to call
All to Himself,
Leave not His word
On some dusty shelf.

I see the sin
Forever abounding,
Yet, His grace
Of fathomless sounding,
Holds us so high
In His regard,
Even this small
Pathetic bard.

With grace as varied
As promising rainbows,
His praise is what
We ever must owe.
With mercy abounding
To us, let’s forgive
All those with contempt
Who choose not to live.

So how do I see
With far-ranging sight?
Where did my eyes
Gain marvelous might?
The same Source
Made me His Soldier,
For I sit upon
My Father’s shoulders!
