Author requests article critique

wooden crosses line my shoulders like
roman sentinals
screaming icons that only few hear
conjuring images of unexpected
appointments with eternity
abrupt and lonely
i have been here for eons
many have tread their feet
rich men, killers beggars & thieves
potholes are my jagged teeth
i am mysterious and adventurous,
i am giving yet i extract without mercy
some can hear my song
others bear my scars
i run in two directions
my ends are narrow and wide
i have lead great kings to victory
and tasted the prophets blood
i am young & i am old
and i wait with all creation
for the son of man
to pave me in gold

i am the road
