Underneath It All

I looked outside of my office window and saw snow capped buildings, white and untouched. Just a few days ago, God allowed his snow to fall for hours, covering everything. Most people stayed indoors waiting for the blistery snowstorm to end, and then we began to dig our way out from under the blanket of snow. I saw children and those down on their luck come out with shovels, offering to help dig out cars and driveways. I saw families playing together,
and even our dog Belvi was happily running and playing in the snow. I made phone calls to check on my sisters and friends. I baked a cake (there's just something about snow and home baked goodies). I read my scriptures and I prayed for all people, the elderly, those who were homeless, traveling, stuck at airports or at work, stranded in cars, or in shelters, lost with no place to go, perhaps they are scared and alone. As I prayed for others, I began to see just
how blessed I was underneath it all. Me, and all my family were protected from the storm. Jesus saw to that! But He also brought a calm to my spirit that He was also protecting all those whom I had prayed for. I somehow felt that there must have been a network of prayer going on for those who are less fortunate; that underneath it all, He is our shelter and our shield.

God is so wonderful! He causes us to cease from our busyness, so that he can show himself in snow. He gave us time to feel thankful for homes with heat and food, and ample supply of whatever we needed. He gave us a mind to think of others who may not have the comfort that we have on a cold winter's day. He showed us that He is Lord, and that he rules and regulates our seasons and our days. He has ways of getting our attention and slowing us down, and some times He chooses to leave snow flakes to remind us that underneath it all we are covered with His blanket of Love and Protection.
