You knew

 

 

O Lord,

when You made the birds

You knew

that our sin would cage them.

When You made the heart of man

You knew

it would betray You

in its love.

 

Still, You saw what You had created

as good

and very good.

 

The marvel of it all is that

You knew

You would make a way

to break the bird’s cage

and set it free;

 

You knew

You would make a way

to meet man where he had strayed

and reclaim his heart.

 

Omniscient, loving, liberating God,

I know

to Whom I owe my life,

and with an awe that exceeds comprehension,

I recognize, with humble praise,

the working gift of

Your infinite knowledge

and Your infinite grace.
