I am charging you before God,
As Christ is to judge the living;
By His appearing that you laud,
To confess for He’s forgiving.

Preach the Word, set for the season,
With longsuffering and doctrine;
Patience and teaching in reason,
Exhort with a good discipline.

The time nears they won’t endure sound,
Itching ears to suit their passions;
Accumulating that they found,
Of their lusts to match their fashions.

For they will then become uncouth,
Wandering off into fables;
No more listening to the truth,
The facts that have turned the tables.

Be sober-minded, make full proof,
Of your ministry to endure;
An evangelist not to spoof,
The afflictions that will cure.

I’m already have been poured out,
My departure is soon at hand;
I have no fear or any doubt,
Persecution is where I stand.

I kept my faith, fought the good fight,
And I have now finished the race;
As I continue toward the light,
Waiting for Jesus to embrace.

There is laid up a crown for me;
It is a crown of righteousness;
The Lord, the righteous judge I see,
To anoint me with blessedness.

He shall award me on that day,
Not just me, but all appearing;
That have loved able to obey,
By worshipping and revering.
