God has allowed Man to develop and benefit from advances in the modern-day medical technology that can often repair and or replace the vital biological organ in the middle of our chest cavity that we call the heart. Without a functioning heart, our physical well-being is compromised, and our biological life can be placed in jeopardy.

For the purpose of this article, this biological heart will henceforth be referred to as the HOB (heart of the body), distinguishing it from the HOH (heart of the head).

Scripture speaks of a heart that is intangible, but is more important than the HOB, as it will continue to exist after the HOB expires. Although intangible, it is located in the part of the physical brain where we do our thinking.

For the purpose of this article, this intangible heart will henceforth be referred to as the HOH (heart of the head), distinguishing it from the HOB.

Through the biological process that God has provided Man with, Fallen Man comes into this world with a HOB that has a heartbeat that can now be detected in the earliest months of the fetus in the womb, and continues to beat after birth, and throughout the course of each one’s appointed time, here on Earth.

Within the time frame allowed, the HOB can be transplanted into another human being, and continue with its pumping function in the body of the recipient. In collaboration with our lungs, our HOB continues to supply our brain and other physical body parts with life-supporting and sustaining oxygen. When this biological function ceases to exist, the body and the HOB expires.

The HOB heartbeat of individuals with pacemakers will continue until the device is turned off, but without the collaborating function of the lungs, the brain and body is no longer receiving life-sustaining oxygen.

The HOB has got nothing to do with spirituality, other than to do its part to sustain the physical dwelling place of the soul and spirit during one’s individually appointed time, here on Earth.

Receiving a transplanted HOB does not pass along the spirituality of the donor. The benefits that the recipient of a transplanted HOB receives is experienced here on Earth, providing the recipient with the opportunity to continue to live on physically until the time of his or her inevitable departure arrives.

There is, however, a relationship that the HOH has with the HOB. Mental stress can elevate the blood pressure and heart rate of HOB.

Why, one might ask, why does God allow for such procedures now, and not did so for individuals of past generations?

The answer is that such medical procedures were not a part of individual plan that God had in mind for the individuals who lived and died during previous generations.

Note that the earliest generations of Man lived hundreds of years, without having many of the benefits being provided by the medical procedures available today.

The first donor of a body part was Adam. The “anesthesiologist” was God Who performed a costectomy (Gen. 2: 21) for the creation of the first woman, later named Eve (Gen. 2: 22). The point being, that providing one’s body parts (or blood) can serve both a biological need and a divine objective for another individual(s).

The individual plan for both the donor and the recipient of the transplanted HOB was in the mind of God before either one was born.

God authored the Divine Decree for the Human Race BEFORE the creation of Man, containing what God knew what was going to take place in the earthly life of every individual soul that He would create. This did not violate the free-will of Man. It’s just that God knew beforehand the choices that each one of us would make, and the impact these choices would have on ourselves and other people.

Only God, with His full-knowledge of the past, present, and future could have authored the Divine Decree.

These separate, but related, plans of God included the events and circumstances that made the recipient’s transplant necessary, and the events and circumstances that made the HOB of the donor available.

There are always ethical questions accompanying the medical procedures that Man has developed. There are some who, for different reasons, object to blood transfusions and inoculations, let alone the transplanting of vital organs. Others have qualms about autopsies and the burial of bodies minus donated organs.

Many of these issues can be readily resolved when one has a clear understanding of what the divine purpose was/is for the various biological body parts that we have, and what does and does not impact the spiritual well-being of all of the individuals involved.

I do not believe that there is anything that can happen or fail to happen that would prevent God from raising up the dust or the bodily remains of a departed born-again believer, when the Rapture (1Thess. 4: 16, 17) takes place.
