The fact that some must die in order for others to live is a fact of life in both the natural and spiritual realm.

For instance, a tragic, life-ending traffic accident for a donor, can mean a life-saving transplant of his or her HOB (heart of the body) for a recipient, keeping in mind that neither the donor nor the recipient died or lived beyond each one’s appointed time of departure.

In the natural realm, there are individuals and groups that choose to put their lives on the line every day, to serve, to protect, or to rescue the natural lives of others. Sometimes these efforts result in them making the ultimate sacrifice of losing their own physical lives in an attempt to preserve or to rescue others.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this, that he would lay down his life for his friends (John 15: 13 NASB2020).” It’s one thing to risk your life for loved ones or friends, but military, law-enforcement, fire-fighters, etc., put their lives on the line every day for people that they don’t even know, some of whom pay them no respect or appreciation.

Secular statistics tell us about 150,000 human souls depart this world every day, after having had the opportunity to fulfill the individual plan that God had in mind. Whatever amount of time, be it long or short, that was needed to fulfill the individual plan and accompanying purpose that God had in mind, was, is now, or will be, provided.

The timing of the birth and the death of every soul is a reflection of the individual plan that God had in mind before any one of us were born. No one (physically) lives one second longer or dies one second sooner that what God directs, or permits to take place.

If it were not for the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, the fallen, spiritually dead, human race would not have ever been provided with the means to secure eternal life (John 3: 16)!

The receiving of a new HOH involves the implanting of new heart, as well, but not by opening and closing one’s cranial cavity. The HOH is intangible, located in the brain where we do our thinking. The “implanting” of the new HOH is the work of God.

The HOH (heart of the head)with which we come into the world, is spiritually dead, and hostile towards God and the things of God, and in need of the Eph. 4: 30 sealing and Titus 3:5 regeneration that takes place when one is born-again (John 3: 5).

Like the HOB, the HOH can come into the world with inherited defects, and can develop other conditions along the way rendering it dysfunctional, unproductive, and in need of repair.

The HOH, with which we ALL come into this world, is inherently defective, being inherently hostile (Rom. 8: 7) towards God and the things of God, and is sick, corrupt, wicked, and EASILY deceived (Jer. 17: 9).

Human beings have 20/20 vision when it comes to seeing the sin and short-comings in other people, while being in total denial of their own.

The Old Testament psalmist recognized this and prayed, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me (Psalms 51: 10 KJV).”

As of the Church Age, the receiving of a new heart (creation) and renewed spirit (2Cor. 5: 17/Titus 3: 5) is the immediate result of being born-again. One is born-again upon making a one-time choice to believe in the unadulterated Gospel Message (John 3: 16, 18), when it is presented to him or her.

The unadulterated Gospel Message can be communicated by many different means, but the understanding of it comes through the pre-salvation ministry of God the Holy Spirit.

Unlike with the transplanting of the HOB, where the former HOB is removed, the old HOH (way of thinking) that we had before we receiving the new one, stays with us (Rom. 7: 22-25), and competes with the new HOH for the immediate control of our thoughts, that ultimately influences our overt speech and behavior(s).

Our HOB may require examinations, medications, and procedures to maintain its best performance. Its best functionality also requires regular exercise and a proper diet.

Our HOB, and its well-being, can be impacted by psychological stress and suppressed negative emotions of our HOH.

The new HOH requires examinations (2Cor. 13: 5) on a regular basis, daily feeding of the Word of God (2Pet. 3: 18) and daily exercise (James 1: 22), as well.

My HOB has a long history of “inconclusive” EKG’s, has had stints place in the main vessels, and skips a beat here and there with palpitations. 20 years ago, my HOB had a port-attached for seven and half months of chemo therapy, being used as a pump to fight a stage 3 cancer.

I found it interesting to note that the nurses and technicians in the Cancer Center take great caution not to come into physical contact with the same chemo meds that passed through my HOB to virtually every cell in my body.

To this day, I take a host of medications and provide my HOB with daily exercise, and continue to see a cardiologist on a regular basis.

Never-the-less, the day will come when my HOB will no longer function, will expire, and be left behind when I depart this world.

On the other hand, my HOH is fed, exercised, and is renewed daily (2Cor. 4: 16), as I choose to grow in the knowledge of God, and experience the grace of God (2Pet. 3: 18).

“Therefore we (advancing disciples) do not lose (HOH) heart , but though our outer person (and HOB) is decaying, yet our inner person (HOH) is being renewed day by day (2Cor. 4: 16 NASB2020 parentheses mine).”

The new HOH that a born-again believer receives and develops is one of the few things that he or she can take with him or her when his or her appointed time comes to leave this world.
