How Circumstances Do Not Matter When We Have This

In the upper room, on the night He would be betrayed, Jesus spoke these remarkable words to His disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27 ESV). This is the priceless inheritance of every born-again believer—the very peace of Christ Himself.

This peace is not fragile or dependent on favorable conditions. It is supernatural, anchored in the finished work of the cross and the living presence of the Prince of Peace. Jesus made it clear that His peace would thrive even in tribulation: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 ESV). Circumstances may rage, but they cannot overcome the One who has already overcome everything. 

Isaiah 26:3 reveals the key to walking in this peace: “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” When our minds are fixed on God rather than on swirling problems, His peace becomes our constant reality. It is a peace that “surpasses all understanding” and actively “will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 ESV). If you are not in His peace, your focused on your problems not the Solution.

Believers access this peace through trust, prayer, and intentional focus. Scripture commands us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6 ESV). As we cast our cares on Him and fix our eyes on Jesus, the peace He bequeathed us rises above every storm.

This is why circumstances ultimately do not matter when we have His peace. Whether facing financial pressure, health struggles, broken relationships, or uncertainty, the born-again believer can walk in unshakable tranquility. The world’s peace depends on everything going right. Christ’s peace remains when everything goes wrong—because it rests not in the circumstance but in the Conqueror who rules over it. His peace in all circumstances is what we need not the worlds peace that is no where to be found when things go wrong. 

Today, choose to stay your mind on the Lord. Trust Him completely, acknowledge His precence and He will lead you. Receive afresh the peace Jesus has already given you. Let it guard you, comfort you, and testify to a watching world that something far greater than your situation lives within you. When you walk in His priceless peace, the storms may howl, but your heart remains anchored in the One who calms them.

Jesus peace in all circumstances is priceless. Peace is what we all want and the only permanent solution no matter what is going on is in God's Word. Let us keep our eyes on Him in every storm so that we can walk above our circumstances, not sinking into them where worry, fear and strife reside. Do not just read God’s Word, do what it says.
