What Are You? A Walking Epistle or A Walking Garbage Disposal

Romans 14:16-17
Let not then your good be evil spoken of

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost

Sometime what we do can destroy our testimony. We have to look to God in the spirit and see if we do this or do that, how will it affect our walk with him. We have to be mindful that the good we do don’t fall into the hands of Satan for evil. His approach is always to bring a reproach against God.

Sometimes we can be right, but will you backing down bring about God’s peace. If someone says you broke the glass, whether or not you did or didn’t will God get the glory for you to argue that you didn’t. It’s all about being like Jesus, that walking epistle. No to go back afterward and say, he know I didn’t break that glass and he is such a liar. No, that’s being a walking garbage disposal because you are carrying trash in you. Don’t let your good be evil spoken of.

Romans 14:1
Him that is weak in the faith, receive: but not to doubtful (uncertainty, undecided state of mind, inclined to disbelieve, skeptical, distrustful, suspicious or unsure) disputations (disputing, debating, arguments or controversy).

This shows your weaknesses in the faith. You don’t argue over things that are morally indifferent with unbelievers. If a person feels it’s wrong to eat meat, so be it. You eat your meat and go on. You don’t have to show him why he is so wrong not to eat meat. Don’t put them in the grave full of sin because it’s not that they are wrong or commit sin, they just made their choice and for you to belittle them for it will get your good evil spoken of. Leave it alone; it’s not debatable or disputable. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 14:5
One brother esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

People belief systems depend on what they have been taught in the home, school or church, their geographic areas, their social status, their level of education and their income. They place their economic issues on their social status more because they have to act a certain way to please their counterparts. They blame someone or somebody for why they achieve or don’t achieve.

Paul had to deal with these things in the early church when he tried to bring the Jews and Gentiles together. Remember Jesus has sheep of different folds that he must bring to him also. Paul had a job and we have a job also today, to bring unbelievers to Christ. We must have the wisdom of God, for he that wins soul is wise. It doesn’t matter if Saturday is the Sabbath and Sunday is the Lord’s Day. What’s important is how much we love and worship God, by how we will live the Gospel. Be that walking epistle and not a walking garbage disposal. Don’t let people bring their arguments over anything to you without you giving them peace in the situation. Nobody should leave you with a difference of opinion talking about how much worse you made the situation instead of the peace you brought to the situation. Study to know how to answer every man when asked. Study to show thy self approved, rightly dividing the word of truth. Let every man be persuaded in his own mind of the truth of the word, not your truth as you see it.

Persuaded means causing to believe convincing or inducing. You bring them around to your thinking, to win them over, convert, assure. Persuade them to Christ; give them the Word and the Word only to live by. Man can only be that walking epistle by responding to the word of God.

Romans 14:10
But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you set at nought thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Why judge (form an opinion about, appraise, conclude or consider someone else’s fate), whether they are righteous or not, love God or not, whether their belief system is on or off. You just give them the word.

Why set them to nought (a variation of naught, nothing, zero, worthless or useless). Why say or make reference that they are nothing. We say they are nothing and won’t be nothing. We all have to stand in the judgment seat of Christ. Will you be rewarded for being a walking epistle or give an account for being a walking garbage disposal: We will only be rewarded for our faithfulness.

Romans 14:13
Let us therefore judge one another any more, but judge this rather that no man put a stumbling block (obstacle) or an occasion (reason, ground, or justification) to fall in his brothers way.

Romans 14:11
For it is written, as I live saith the Lord, every knee (the joint between the thigh and lower leg, reducing a person in submission) shall bow (kneel down) to me, and every tongue (the pink tornado, that unruly evil, that fleshly muscular organ in the mouth used in tasting, licking and swallowing and for speech) shall (will, expressing strong assertion or command rather than a wish) confess (avow, acknowledge or admit, declare one’s sin, confirm, concede, affirm or testify) to God.

Paul quotes Isaiah 45:23 to point out that the day is coming when every believer will give an account to God concerning why he did or did not do everything required of him according to the word and things pertaining to life. Why were you not that walking epistle. Why were you a walking garbage disposal (something that can be thrown away, used only once, paper, plastic, subject to someone else’s orders or decisions other than God, the world order instead your God given purpose is disposed of, useless, finished. Your influence, persuasion, and your willingness to retain someone else to Christ is gone).

Romans 14:19
Let us therefore follow after the things that make for peace, and things where with one may edify another.

Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.

Bless them; which persecute you.
Bless, and curse not

Rejoice with them that do rejoice and weep with them that weep.

Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Be that walking epistle, not a walking garbage disposal.
