"I've still got a ways to go, and I still need prayer, but Jesus has completely restored my will to live. He used you to remind me that I have a lot to live for." He reached for Dina's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
Dina smiled at her older brother. "God answered my prayers for you to be happy again."
Just then, the traffic light turned red. Paul stopped the car, then leaned over amd kissed his little sister on the cheek. "Thanks, sweetheart. With you as my little sister, I know I could never be miserable forever."
"I love you, Paul," Dina said as she leaned her head on her brother's arm.
"I love you, too, Dina." Paul gave Dina a kiss on the top of her head.
Dina cleared her throat. "I'd been praying for you about something else, too," she admitted.
Paul raised his dark, thick eyebrows. "Oh, really? What else have you been praying?"
"I've been praying for you to find a nice girl who's a lot nicer than Bridget," Dina replied. "I never liked Bridget. She was too bossy, manipulative, and possessive."
Paul thought about what his little sister had just said. Dina had always been as friendly as could be whenever Bridget was around the family. She always spoke nicely to Bridget. He hadn't seen Dina look away when he and Bridget kissed, because his eyes were always closed when he kissed Bridget. Dina understood Bridget's nature really well. Paul couldn't believe he had put up with Bridget's behavior for so long. Dina was right. He needed a nice girl. He was definitely not suicidal anymore, but he wasn't quite ready to date again, either. "Thanks, sport. I'm not really ready to date yet. In the meantime, I'm going to work on improving my grades and getting back on the track team. Most of all, I'm going to spend lots of time with my favorite girl in the whole world --- you." He smiled again and patted Dina's head.
