After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. Matthew 28:1 NIV

I am sure as these two Mary’s set out to visit the sight of the Lord’s burial, they were still grieving the loss of their beloved Lord. Grief is a normal part of the process we all go through after the loss of a loved one. The severity of the grief and what we do to deal with it will differ from person to person.

If one is a believer in Jesus Christ, and the deceased one we loved was also a believer, the grief is more associated to the loss of being with that person still in body. Both know eternity lies with the Lord. For the one who is not a believer, the grief relates almost exclusively to the disconnection from this individual forever. There is no hope of being reunited. How very sad this is. But the living one must try to find a way to move on with their life even with the thought of eternal separation from the loved one.

We who love the Lord know the soul lives beyond the grave.
