The Substitute

baptizing them in the name of the

Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever

I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you alway,

We have been walking in a substitution of what was. This is what was and what is today.

Before I begin, I want to say that this writing is a bit different from what I normally write.  I wrote this as the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart today.  I pray that after you have read this that you will see the Word with a new set of eyes.  That you will see the history of the church and the words of Christ concerning His desires of the church, with a new set of eyes.  So, take your time.  Please pay attention.  As I said, this presentation is very different.

When Jesus was born, he was born of the tribe of Judah.  His mother was Mary of the tribe of Judah, and His earthly father was Joseph of the tribe of Judah.  He was conceived by Mary through the Holy Ghost.  He was born in Bethlehem.  For a short time He was hidden in Egypt, as an infant because Herod wanted to kill him.  He was hidden until Joseph was told by an angel, in a dream that it was safe to return; settling them in a town in  Galilee called Nazareth with both Jesus and his mother Mary.

Yeshua (Jesus) was raised like all children of that time; to be obedient to the LORD’s commandments and to be yielded under obedience of your parents and elders.  I am getting to a point in addressing this, this way.  In other words, as the scriptures says, Christ learned obedience through suffering.  Heb. 5:8. If you look, you will see that the scripture speaks of these very things in Luke 2:41-52.  I am bringing this up because it says that when He was 12 years old (this is the time when a boy becomes a son of the law).  In other words prior to this, he had been prepared by his parents and elders in Galilee, studying and learning in preparation for this event. When you review this story though is the fact that even at the age of 12 Yeshua knew and understood who his Father was, and he also knew and submitted to his earthly parents and elders which is stated here:  verse 51 of Luke chapter 2: And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: 

Throughout scripture, you will see Yeshua as the Torah (law) abiding Messiah. In the scripture you see that He was a Torah observant Jew, who taught sinners to love the Father and to seek the kingdom of God.  In complete summary Jesus was a jew.  Not a legalist but the Son of God who pointed people to the will of God.  His disciples, the Apostles were jews.  He first went to the jew and taught his disciples to go to the jew first and teach them, and then to go to the nations making disciples. 

At His ascension, Jesus directed all who witnessed, to go into all of the world…Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world”. Amen. 

He commanded them to teach “them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”

Did the Apostles do this? 

In reading the letters of the Apostles and the walks and teachings of them all, I would say yes. The Apostles obeyed the commandment of the Lord to go into all the world and to teach them to observe all things.  So what happened?  When did the substitute come in?  Why did we not see it?  What has been substituted?  Why?

I am not going to cite this information for you.  I will simply answer these questions I have asked over the course of time myself.  I will leave you to  do as the Bereans did when Paul proclaimed the gospel to see if the things he has proclaimed were true, and they found that they were true and they believed. 

Much of what I will address is history that I have read and studied over the course of time, beginning about 20 years ago.  During that time I was simply reading and learning for myself, I did not leave a paper trail of information that I can list in footnotes for your review.  At that time I had no idea that my life would evolve from what I was learning.

The Original

He gave them commandments, not substitutes.

What happened?  We know that in the book of Acts which is called “The Acts of the Apostles”,  the Apostles all did as Yeshua had commanded them, which was to go to Jerusalem and wait…. And they waited there as commanded, to be filled with the Holy Ghost.  They were obedient to Him and went and waited.  Here is the commandment:

⁴ And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.⁵ For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.⁶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?⁷ And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.⁸ But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:4-8 kjv.

The infilling of the Holy Ghost was fulfilled on a High Holy Day.  The Apostles continued to be obedient to Christ’s commands and obeyed just as all obedient jews did.  The Holy Ghost filled them with power on “First Fruits”, (Pentecost)  I don’t think that they had realized, but maybe they did, in looking at what First Fruits is Yeshua had gathered His first fruits.  The Apostles and the group that was assembled with them were first fruits.  If they had not been obedient, and had not purposed in their hearts to obey the Lord, they would not have come together, and continued there during that Holiday, and they would have missed it.  Today there would not be followers of Christ who are filled with the Holy Ghost, if they had not followed His (Yeshua’s) instructions to go to Jerusalem and tarry (wait).

They learned from the Savior’s example and teachings to continue to walk this way all their days, observing all that He had taught them.  They learned, watched and followed His example as He observed these days.  They learned and observed how he walked during the sabbath.  They observed and learned the complete meaning through Him what each feast day meant.  They observed and learned what the sabbath meant and they learned and understood the spirit of the law of all10 commandments I’m sure.  He taught about all of these things including the Love to God and seeking after righteousness.  He taught the kingdom of God and the will of the Father. Matthew chapters 5-7.

He did not teach His disciples not to remember the Sabbath.  No. He taught them to remember the sabbath and to keep it Holy.  He taught them how to observe it.  He taught that He is Lord of the sabbath, and that the sabbath was created for man, and not man for the sabbath.  He taught them to observe all things that he observed, and He taught them how and why.  In other words, He did not take away any of the laws, He fulfilled them and He taught the Spirit of the law and how to walk in the Spirit, and He commanded them to teach others the same.

They learned that all the law and prophets is summed up in these two commandments,  to love the LORD thy God with all thine, heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love thy neighbor as thy self.

The Substitute

What the jew knows and the truth that has been hid during the course of time is this.  All the High Holy feasts is a time that the LORD has bid us, both jew and gentile who were with the jews to come together before him and spend time with Him.  To fellowship with each other and to sup with Him and each other.  Father has commanded this for all time, because He loves us and wants special set apart appointed days for us to be with Him.

This is what we see throughout the scripture as an example from the time Jesus walked with His disciples to His ascension, to the infilling of the Holy Ghost throughout the New Testament scripture.  The first century church, yes jews first and as the gentiles were grafted in, they did as the gentiles of the Old Testament stories shows that those gentiles who lived among them were required to do as well.

I know, I know you have read and assume that we understand what Paul has said about laws and so forth.  Number one: this is not addressing the 613 laws we all know and understand that we are now to walk as Jesus taught which is to walk in the perfect “Law of Liberty” John 8:36 and to fulfill the “Royal Law”.

I am not addressing that,  I am speaking of how things have changed and how the body of Christ as a whole have completely walked away from what the Apostles established  as one of the foundations of the church. 

Did you know that persecution arose because of these things?  Did you know that Converts to Christ, both jews and gentiles were persecuted and ostracized from the synagogues eventually because of their faith in Christ.  Did you know that laws were passed forbidding jews and gentile from associating with each other.

Did you know that both jews and gentiles converts were persecuted? Some were persecuted to the point of death for observing the sabbaths and feast days.  Did you know that your forefathers in Christ suffered because of their obedience to the commandments that our Savior had set and appointed for us to follow?  Did you know that the powers at that time were purposefully trying to annihilate the Christian faith.  By adding laws that if they found that they were not working on Saturday because of religious beliefs, that they were persecuted?  Did you know that this continued even into the time of the arrival of Christians to Plymouth.  Did you know that groups of Puritans in America observed the seventh day sabbath and was admonished for celebrating Christmas and birthdays?

I believe one of the greatest strategies is this.  The enemy through people of power, played the long game.  Because over the course of time man forgets history.  Documents have been lost and destroyed, and new truths have been established to replace the truth.

I want you to remember the Jesus said and is still saying this:  that He is the Way,  He is the Truth, He is the Life.  Even though man has come in and changed things before your eyes and all you can see is the substitute, He remains the same. His covenant with us remains the same, and nothing he has said or taught will ever change.

I challenge you.  Yes, I know this is a bold statement yet I say it.  I challenge you to allow His Truth to settle into your hearts and minds today.  Ponder with a truthful heart.  Speak with the LORD about these things and see if what I’ve said is true.  Look again at what must have replaced that truth with a lie.  The Sabbath (which is the seventh day, not the first day of the week) and its importance.  Christmas, Easter (bunnies, eggs etc. instead of the High Holy Days of what Yeshua taught us to observe), birthday celebrations, Halloween, New Years etc.  All of which are celebrations of the world, not feast days of the scripture, that was observed by our Savior, the Apostles, the Prophets and our Forefathers.  Look and see, find out for yourselves.  Go online while this information is still available.  Seek it out for yourselves.  Learn and see when all this was implemented.  Its all there to see.

There are those who desire your eyes and hearts to do as the world and not as the kingdom of God.  Remember the Savior’s teaching, “Take my yoke upon you and learn of Me for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.  Jesus is not religion traditions.  He did not teach holidays nor celebrations of the world. He taught obedience to the Father.  He taught us to love the Father and to seek the Kingdom of God, which is: righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. 

Now please allow the Holy Ghost to lead you into all truth and not man and his devices. If you have some familiarity with Paul’s writings and attempt to justify the practices of the world with what you believe he is teaching as religious doctrine,  remember these two things.

1. What example did Paul and all of the Apostles give as an example of how to live?  Paul easily lived and walked among both jew and gentiles. All of the Apostles, as Jews continued to go to the synagogues on the sabbaths and he continued to observe what Christ had commanded, as did all of the Apostles, whose lives are examples just as Christ, in how we should live and conduct ourselves towards God and man.


2. Remember what Peter said about Paul, that some of his writings are hard to understand and to be careful of your interpretations.  2Peter 3:14-18 kjv

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;  As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Mark all of this in your minds, when pondering what I have presented to you.  That our Savior never intended for us to be separate and apart, but one flock, with one teaching, which is what He taught us, and what His disciples learned and spread throughout the world as his Apostles.  Not one thing that He taught has changed.  It still remains the same Truth and always will.

In other words, we did not graft the jew into the Christian faith.  We  gentiles were grafted in.  We are the other flock that Jesus spoke of and said that we will be one flock and have one Shepherd.  Jesus (Yeshua) our Shepherd.  Who is the shepherd of both the jew and the gentile, the bond and the free.  He is Lord of us all and has commanded us to keep and obey His commandments.  For He says if you love me you will keep my commandments.*****

To me it is no longer a choice.  The teachings of Christ are commandments.  And if I am truly His, I will obey the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ.  Rev 14:12 and Rev 12:17.  It’s not a choice it’s a commandment.  No matter what the cost.  Even our lives. 

Jesus said These are commandments.  Christ died fulfilling them that He might save some.  The Apostles died for their faith.  Many saints have truly died in the faith and walking in the commandments.

Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 

Looks to me that we now have such a great opportunity to choose.  So, choose.  Which will it be, the original or the substitute? 

Father in heaven, Holy is your name. Father I pray in the name of Yeshua our Savior, the Anointed One, that you will give the readers eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand, the intentions of these words that the Spirit has given me today to share. Father in Heaven, I pray and ask that you will give them a softness of heart to receive the strength to love you and to obey your commandments and to walk in the faith of Christ no matter what the cost. I pray that you will encourage them by Your Holy Spirit to purpose in their hearts to do what is right according to your word and Your commandments, and teachings through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Father in heaven, I also ask that you receive these words of prayer for the saints that you would have mercy on us all. Bless us Father and keep us in your name and keep us in Jesus name. Help us to walk daily by the grace through faith of Jesus Christ by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, which will enable us to walk pleasing in your sight.

Father, yours is the Kingdom, yours is the Power and yours is the Glory. This is why I come to you and pray because you are my Father, and because Yeshua is my Savior. This is why we come to you and pray through Christ our Lord. I pray this prayer in the name that is above every name. I pray this prayer and ask this of you in the name of Yeshua. And Father thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen.

Now.  Look at the word with a new set of eyes.  Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you.  Allow Him to lead you.  Allow Him to show and reveal to you the truth of the Word.  Open your eyes and see what the Lord has been showing you all along.

¹My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ²And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. ³ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ⁵But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. ⁶He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
