God’s Appointments

What do you think when you read God’s Appointments? Do you remember an incident where things seemed impossible? Right at that time, God intervened and opened the door at the perfect time. Perhaps he gave you a Scripture verse [God’s Appointment]. Perhaps funds were low, and you were unsure where the money would come from. God intervened and provided at just the right time, God’s Appointment, God’s Appointment.

God has a variety of ways to meet our needs. Appointments, perfect time, open and closed doors are his Appointments. We just happened to be there at just the right time to get that job. Remember, for the Christian, open doors and closed doors can be God’s appointments.

My mind goes back to Jonah. God told him to go to Nineveh to preach repentance to those people. However, he purchased a ticket and went down to Joppa, in the opposite direction.

Jonah 1:4- God hurled a wind that caused a storm, and Jonah was thrown overboard by the other men.

Jonah 2:10-God commanded a great fish to swallow Jonah and return him to Nineveh

Jonah 4:6-God appointed a plant for Jonah to shade him from the heat.

Jonah 4:7-God appointed a worm to eat the plant and remove the shade that Jonah enjoyed from the plant.

Jonah 4:8-11-God appointed a scorching wind which caused Jonah to be overheated, then God spoke to Jonah about his lack of compassion for the people of Nineveh.

Application: Did you notice how God hurled a wind? Commanded a great fish? Appointed a plant and then a worm to eat the plant? Can you see places in your life where you see God’s Appointments? Perhaps they are open or closed doors. If God did all that for Jonah, he would do the same for us.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for all your Appointments in my life. It sure makes life easier when I follow your path for me, rather than going my own way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
