Coach Jesus teaches his scampering halfbacks to stiff arm pride and , when tackled, to fall (or fail ) forward in order to gain the necessary inches for a first down, thus keeping the winning drive alive. He calls it maintaining the holy momentum that flows out of constant communion with Himself , and enables His scampering scatbacks to skip over downed linemen and hurtle hustling linebackers for the extra yardage. “Momentum overcomes “ he keeps telling us. “And cheer up, chests out, cuz I have overcome the world.” The most basic form of courage, by the way, is cheerfulness.
