Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:15 NIV
Greed is not good. How do we know? Because Jesus tells us to be on guard against all kinds of greed. Greed is not good as we become enslaved to that for which we greed. Greed is not good as it provides what we do not need while keeping it from someone who needs it. Greed is not good as it blinds us to obedience to God. What makes it worse is that there are so many forms of greed. It might not even be something that we are aware of, or if we are aware we may not be willing to accept that it is greed. As Christ said here be on guard for there are a multitude of greed.
