Speak A Word Or Blaspheme

And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. Luke 12:10 NIV

Here it may appear as if Jesus is contradicting Himself. How can speaking against Christ be forgiven but blaspheming the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven? Before one repents and turns to God through Christ, they may speak against Jesus. But Christ stands ready to forgive the one with a repentant heart. One who says that what the Holy Spirit accomplishes is not through God, but through Satan (there is only good or evil) then blasphemes the One who God gives to the believer for following Christ. The Holy Spirit is our guide to follow in the way of the Lord. He is of God and is God. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit thus cannot be forgiven.
