The Difference Between Fear and Faith

Hebrews 11:1 has the perfect explanation of faith. Here it is in the AMP: Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

Faith is not a mystery that is difficult to understand or figure out. Nor is it a puzzle that is incomplete without all the pieces. Faith is having confidence in God when everything looks impossible. Have you ever faced a situation and thought, What if it doesn’t work out? Fear can stop the process and cause doubt to settle in your heart. When it latches onto your mind, it creates an image that makes God seem like these circumstances are too challenging for Him to fix.

Your challenges are not impossible for the Lord to overcome, but how you feel and how something looks are on a collision course with your faith. Even with a rich history with God, you might find yourself asking, What if. That is because you are allowing fear to be more powerful than your faith. Beloved, fear is “What if, but faith is, even if. Anything we place into His hands, God can control the outcome, even if the odds are against us.

So, fear says, what if my job is downsized? Faith says even if that be the case, God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. (Philippians 4:19).

You feel afraid of these uncertain times we live in. What if I lose my only source of income? Faith declares that even if I suffer any loss, I know who I trust, and He can guard what I have entrusted to Him. Dear One, a cattle on a thousand hills belongs to Him. He has a vast resource, and His inventory never runs out. (1 Timothy 1:11-12; Psalms 50:10).

Your situation is getting worse instead of improving. Faith knows that even when the news does not turn out as we expected, it is a setup for God to demonstrate His power. God will take what the enemy meant to ruin you and turn it for your good and save countless others. (Genesis 50:20). Never underestimate the power of faith because faith in God is always more powerful than fear. If it does not turn out as you desire, God will bless you with a greater outcome.
