Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’ Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Why would a generation be held accountable for things done by previous generations? If a previous generation did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and the current generation continues in the same way, and does not change to do what is good in the eyes of the Lord, that generation is carrying on the evil and they will be held accountable for all the evil, current and past. Now, keep in mind that this is also applicable to today’s generation. How many generations have come and gone since Jesus walked the earth? Think of all the evil that has happened in those 2000 years. Would you want to be held accountable not only for the evil of this generation, but that of all the previous generations? This should be a very terrifying thought. Do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. Let yourself not be accountable for the wickedness of so many generations.
